Wisdom, Support, and Shared Experience
Qigong is not practised in isolation. It lives through teachers, students, and the quiet exchange between them. At The Jade Tortoise, guidance is attentive, rooted in clinical experience, and shaped by the living tradition of TQH Medical Qigong.
Guīdo Porten
Founder & Teacher
The Jade Tortoise
Guido is a Qualified TQH Medical Qigong Instructor and continues his studies under Ajahn Toh, a Qigong master and doctor of Chinese medicine. This dual role—teacher and student—keeps his work rooted in lineage and aligned with the living tradition of TQH Medical Qigong.
Before founding The Jade Tortoise, Guido spent over two decades in international brand strategy and design, immersed in the brilliance and the strain of modern life. Burnout was the turning point. In the tradition of Medical Qigong, he discovered a practice that restores what fatigue erodes, steadies what stress unsettles, and renews the rhythm of body and mind.
The artistry now lies in re-painting body and mind behaviours: trading the restless for the calm, reshaping the posture of survival into the poise of balance. His teaching is precise yet compassionate, always guided by tradition, and clinically attentive—supporting recovery from stress, burnout, and musculoskeletal imbalances in small groups and one-to-one practice.
Elisa Senese
Founder TQH Bali,
Advisor The Jade Tortoise
For over three decades, Elisa has worked at the meeting point of body, mind and spirit—an Integrative Healer, Craniosacral Therapist, Qualified TQH Medical Qigong Instructor, and Spiritual Mentor. Her gift lies in articulation: sensing what lies beneath the surface, and giving voice to the unspoken. In her presence, what was once hidden becomes visible; what was unconscious, gently brought into the light.
Elisa introduced Guido to the TQH system and has been a spiritual mentor to him for over a decade. Today, she continues to support the evolution of this work as an advisor to The Jade Tortoise studio in Amsterdam.”
Living Tradition
Wisdom, Support, and Shared Experience
The Jade Tortoise is part of a wider network of TQH Medical Qigong schools. At its centre stands Chiang Mai, Thailand, where my teacher Ajahn Toh continues his work as master and doctor of Chinese medicine. From there the practice flows outward—adapted with care to each place it touches.
From Amsterdam to Bodrum, from Bali, the Island of the Gods, to Japan, this tradition endures—not loudly, but with quiet clarity. Rooted in ancient understanding and carried in careful hands across cultures, it is sustained through teachers and students who bring their own stories and experiences.
Together we form a collective wisdom—built not from theory, but from lived practice. This is how the tradition remains alive: not as an echo of the past, but as a quiet force shaping the present.
